At a glance

The question

Evaluating vector-control tools in a setting affected by insecticide resistance.

The setting

Shikapande Village in Nchelenge District.

The comparison

The planned evaluation compares cement, mud and brick wall surfaces.

NHRTI’s research programme includes an experimental-hut study in Shikapande Village, Nchelenge District, designed to evaluate vector-control tools in a setting affected by insecticide resistance.

The planned WHO Phase II evaluation examines a product containing plinazolin on three common indoor wall surfaces: cement, mud and brick. Experimental huts provide a setting for comparing the product’s performance under different conditions.

The programme builds on NHRTI’s work evaluating indoor residual spraying products in Nchelenge. Preparatory community engagement included a visit by the study team to Shikapande Health Post and discussions with community leaders.
